Four denominations — Rioja, Cava, Rueda and Ribera del Duero — carry 70% of Spain's mapped 2021 grape harvest
Asked:
“Can you draw a map for 2021?”
16 Spanish wine denominations with verified 2021 harvested-grape quantities, totalling about 1.36 million tonnes, each placed at an approximate label point on the Iberian Peninsula. Bubble area and colour scale with tonnes harvested.
Partial map, not a choropleth. This shows only the wine denominations with verified point-level 2021 figures; denomination areas can overlap and cross provincial boundaries, and each dot is an approximate label location, not a polygon. Portugal is not plotted: the verified search yielded no comparable point-level 2021 quantities — Portugal's comparable data exists at NUTS-2 in a downloadable Zenodo workbook, but those rows could not be retrieved here.

Method: 16 rows, one per Spanish wine denomination with a verified 2021 harvested-grape quantity in tonnes, mapped at approximate label coordinates (not boundaries). Figures are reported harvest volumes from the denominations' own 2021 vintage reports as compiled by Foods & Wines from Spain (January 2022). Denominations without point-level verified 2021 figures — and all of Portugal, whose comparable data sits at NUTS-2 in a Zenodo workbook that could not be retrieved — are omitted. Mapped total ≈ 1,358,600 tonnes.
