Meta was the central clearinghouse in the frontier-lab talent market
Public reporting surfaced 68 direct researcher or technical-leader moves between frontier-model labs from January 2025 through 20 August 2026. Meta was involved in 47 of them—receiving 29 people and losing 18—while the two largest corridors were Google DeepMind → Meta and OpenAI → Meta, with 13 moves each.

Meta absorbed two equal waves. Thirteen researchers arrived from OpenAI and another 13 from Google DeepMind.
The revolving door also spun outward. Eighteen researchers in the set left Meta, mainly for Thinking Machines (6), OpenAI (5), xAI (4), and Anthropic (3).
Anthropic’s biggest source was Google DeepMind. Seven reported moves followed that corridor, including Nicholas Carlini, John Jumper, Alexander Pritzel, Jonas Adler, and Arthur Conmy.
Thinking Machines both recruited and was raided. Its 2025 intake included John Schulman and Barrett Zoph; six researchers then moved from it to OpenAI in January–July 2026.
