The question: find all public tennis courts in the South Bay and Peninsula, and for each facility list the city, number of courts, hours, fees, and how to book it.

A best-effort web census as of August 30, 2026: 146 public facilities across 26 cities in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, with 366 courts counted where a source stated the number.

Findings

Sunnyvale Tennis Center is the region's largest documented facility at 16 courts, run under a reservation-and-fee system — sunnyvale.ca.gov

Mountain View concentrates 37 counted courts in 7 parks, led by Cuesta Park's 12-court center with walk-on and advance online reservations — mountainview.gov

Menlo Park is a clear mixed system: courts are drop-in 365 days a year, but reservations cost $10/hour resident, $15 non-resident, $25 commercial — menlopark.gov

Redwood City keeps all 8 of its listed park courts first-come, first-served, dawn to dusk (10 pm where lighted) — redwoodcity.org

Method & limits. Public systems vary widely: many neighborhood courts are free and first-come-first-served, while managed centers and reservable courts charge hourly fees. This directory is a best-effort web census, not a legal guarantee — cities publish facilities inconsistently, some school courts have conditional public access, and temporary closures may not appear. Private, member-only, HOA, hotel, and pickleball-only venues were excluded.

Data: live-web research on 2026-08-30 across municipal pages, public operators, directories, and local sources — roughly 3,600 unique result pages in two county-focused passes plus about 2,100 in a Peninsula-focused pass, distilled into 125 cross-region rows and 223 supplemental Peninsula rows, deduplicated to 146 facilities in 26 cities. "Courts" is the number stated by the linked source; the 366-court total covers only the 100 facilities with a stated count. Duplicate and private/pickleball-only rows were cut.
