Partial research result — not a global ranking

18 countries searched of 195 planned, and under a strict eligibility rule no road-legal car builder was validated yet

One automated country-by-country pass, dated 2026-08-28, aimed to count active builders of complete road-legal passenger cars per million people across the full UN-aligned list of 195 states. The run reached its research limit after materializing 18 country rows covering roughly 2.05 billion people; 3 of those rows carry map coordinates, 2 lack a 2025 population estimate, and every builder count in this output is zero — meaning no builder passed validation in this limited pass, not that these countries have none.

searched in this pass — zero builders validated so far not yet searched (177 of 195 countries) row carries coordinates in this output
China alone accounts for 1.40 billion of the ~2.05 billion people covered, yet even its row validated zero builders under the strict rule — a sign the automated evidence pass, not the country, is the bottleneck. en.wikipedia.org
Angola's evidence points to the country's only domestic vehicle assembly plant, launched January 2026 — foreign contract assembly is explicitly excluded, so the row stays at zero. reuters.com
Several rows cite import or market coverage rather than production — Australia's source discusses Chinese carmakers offloading vehicles there, and Armenia's covers a Chinese model's launch — leaving no qualifying domestic evidence. theage.com.au
Algeria and Andorra arrived with coordinates but no 2025 population, so builders per million is undefined for them rather than zero. pyreneesmotors.ad

Country Population 2025 Builders validated Per million Coordinates Source

Method: automated per-country search for active builders of complete road-legal passenger cars, snapshot 2026-08-28. Eligibility was deliberately strict: entity based or headquartered in the country, active on 2026-08-28, with evidence of an actually completed complete road-legal passenger car; excluded were defunct firms, announced-only projects, race- or concept-only cars, kits and components, mere tuners, importers, foreign contract assemblers, and bus/truck/motorcycle-only makers. 18 of 195 intended country rows were materialized before the research limit; the other 177 were never searched. Builder count is builders validated per country; per million divides it by the 2025 population estimate, which is missing for 2 rows and may be inconsistently extracted. Only 3 rows carry latitude/longitude, marked with rings on the map; very small states may not be drawable at this map resolution. Zero means no builder was validated in this limited pass, not proof of absence — do not read a per-capita winner from this output. A defensible all-country result would require a continuation run on a canonical UN population and coordinates dataset plus manual verification of every candidate producer.
